“Autonomous Body” is an object that explores the relation between the natural and the artificial through the vessel as a medium.
The oval body evokes the association of an egg which carries potential life within a fragile shell. It seems to be a grown organic structure rather than made on purpose.
The formal language of the piece is inspired by archaic surroundings that shaped our consciousness throughout an incredible long period of evolutionary processes.
The title “Autonomous Body” refers both to objects that are made out of a human desire to reflect our natural environment through the use of craft as well as the fact that the same surroundings let us become autonomous bodies ourselves.
