"Any pursuit of practical perfection,

of the perfectly practical object,

will fail because of the truth or reality of being,

which is not objective."

- Kazimir Malevich, russian suprematism painter

Gabriel Tarmassi is a young craftsman and designer from Germany with a passion for wood. On his quest for new possibilities in design he is in permanent dialogue with the material. His hands direct the tools and create unique objects, that are not to be competed with industrial products. Tarmassi blends archaic structures, subtle details and pure shapes together, creating holistic pieces that appeal to our senses. He draws inspiration from nature: shapes of rough cliffs and gentle waves inspire him as well as marks of bark beetles or the cellular structure of wood itself.
